Our Principal, Heather McGeorge

Heather McGeorge is a lawyer and both a Canadian and U.S. designated accountant specializing in domestic and cross-border U.S. and Canadian tax and estate planning. Ms. McGeorge brings over 20 years combined legal and accounting experience dealing with high net worth families and executives in both a domestic and cross-border context. Her experience includes work with Big Four accounting firms in corporate and general tax as well as over 10 years specializing in cross-border Canadian and U.S. personal tax as a Senior Manager with Ernst & Young LLP.

After attending law school, Ms. McGeorge articled with a prominent tax litigation boutique in Toronto where she assisted clients in resolving disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial tax authorities, bringing forward unreported income under the voluntary disclosure program and preparing applications for taxpayer relief. Her more recent experience involves advising high net worth families, individuals and executives on wealth management strategies including all aspects of personal and private corporations’ tax and US personal and estate tax.

In addition to her legal and accounting designations, Ms. McGeorge has completed an LL.M in taxation law from Osgoode Hall Law School, the CICA Advanced Tax Issues for the Owner-Managed Business, the CICA In-Depth Tax Course, Osgoode Professional Development’s Wills and Estates Intensive Workshop and she is a Certified Financial Planner. She is also an Executive Member of the Ontario Bar Association Tax Law Section, a member of the Trusts and Estates Section and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
